Additional Freckles Information

When orphaned Freckles gets a job watching Mr. McLean's valuable Limberlost timber, he thinks that he has at last found a home. But the Limberlost gives him much more than that--a lasting knowledge of nature, a woman who loves him, and the secret of his noble birth.

What Customers Say About Freckles:

Search for a better edition or printing if you treasure your books as I do. The type was smugged or missing in many places throughout the book and quality control is certainly not their priority or objective. I was truly disappointed in the quality of the book from the Library of Indiana Classics. I wish I had bought a used, original issue instead. "Freckles" is a marvelous story, though, from the early years of the 1900's and makes for a delightful read.
After all the violence and mayhem on TV and the movies, it was such a pleasure to read a book from a time that was simplier and more down to earth.
This book will be my favourite for all time (because they just don't write them like they used to) I had a panic attack because my mom had put it in a box and I couldn't find it. I have a 1940s edition of the book and it's been my favourite for 9 years. Whenever I go move (and I move A LOT) or go back to school I always have it with me because it is my favourite book of all time. I insist that you read this book, and id you don't at least enjoy it a little.
Freckles is one of Gene Stratton Porter's best works. I am also pleased at the condition of the book and the speed with which it arrived.
Pretty sentimental by today's standards, this book champions saving the forests and wetlands. A great romance. I read this at an impressionable age and fell in love with stalwart Freckles and the Limberlost Swamp and his Angel. The descriptions are beautiful and evocative.
